I have no doubt that some of the Astronaut corps have been drafted for secret work. Yet I think the idea that we don't have as many "Astronauts" is something that could be fact checked, and placed into proper perspective considering that we no longer have the Space Shuttles to carry seven into space on any one trip. Reliance on the Russians really isn't cutting it is it.

The term "astronaut" derives from the Greek words meaning "space sailor," and refers to all who have been launched as crew members aboard NASA spacecraft bound for orbit and beyond. The term astronaut candidate refers to individuals who have been selected by NASA as candidates for the NASA astronaut corps and are currently undergoing a candidacy training program at the Johnson Space Center.

With a poor economy, it will probably get worse (Astronauts will age out) before it gets better.

That is certainly one theory. As good as any other "reasons for ET visits" I have heard.
Always grateful for the attention he brings to the subject, a real American Hero.

Had an email exchange with Robert Hastings asking him if he knew about this.
And he said Ed Mitchell had read his book may have had contact with Robert Salas, but what he was talking about mostly was the stuff in Roberts book 'UFOs and Nukes'.
He asked at the time(when he read it) if he had any personal sources and said no.
So he's not talking about new evidence just spreading the word.
