Hi earthman,

Yes, we know. Several of us were in touch with him through Facebook and other means.
He interviewed Chris, one of the owners of The OutPost Forum on two occasions.

It's very sad news, indeed, and a loss to the community.

Jerry Wills will do a memorial radio show on the Kevin Smith Show next week.

Yes, I know.

Shortly after doing that show yesterday, the equipment messed up, and the memorial show which was programmed for yesterday as well has been moved to next week.

This is what he posted on Facebook, some hours ago:

Hi Folks... I know you will be disappointed but I need to postpone the memorial show until next week. Having just moved in here a day ago I am faced with an overwhelming burden trying to get everything patched together correctly to provide this show.

The show last night was possible because I hacked things together to make things work. A few of those band-aid's fell off and a few failures happened. I've battled them all day long and am really weary from it.

Of course the grieving has me numb as well... It's hard to think clearly about how to make this work through tears. I don't mean to sound overly dramatic, but I am very sad about all of this.

So, the plan is this; Let's have a party in Kevin's honor next Friday evening. I'm considering an earlier starting time and will let you know the specifics.

It's BYOB, pot of coffee, or whatever substance you enjoy. Let's celebrate the life of a great man, and a wonderful friend who inspired us. I'll work out the details between now and then and be ready to host this celebration.

Meanwhile, should I receive any information before the show I will post it here.

That is really saddening. I recall when he was still putting together his show.

I hope his family are okay.

It is such a sad news :(
I was a guest on his show few years ago and I was also a source of a Filipov story and video that I supplied to him. My request was only not to release the video and he always honour that.

Does anyone has member access to his site? I would like to preserve the shows (KPods) for UFO history. Similar thing happened few years ago when Michael Cobrin died. Shows were soon lost on the internet side but luckily I did preserve them for the history and have them.

I subscribed two days ago for members area to preserve shows for the history, but it seems that entry is already closed. I did received login and password after paypal processing but they do not work. So if anyone still have active member access to his site, please contact me over PM before everything is gone.

I have arround 130 his shows archived but there are lot more that should be preserved.

This is a sad loss. Kevin Smith was generous with his time and kind of spirit. He was supportive of the field and conducted his show in an inclusive, intelligent manner. There are too few like him and his absence will be felt. We offer the heartfelt condolences of The OutPost Forum administrators and staff.

I spoke with him on and off the air on more than few occasions....he was one of the good guys.

I also had a heart attack this year...cardiac arrest for 20 minutes...I'm real lucky to be alive...the EMT's did not give up.

Kevin's death hit me hard

There is no money in broadcasting. Doing a show like his takes dedication. He will be missed. I opened the link and having it playing.

Sorry to hear that!

Hope you're fully recovered from your cardiac arrest.

And, yes, Kevin was one of the good guys, and he will be missed.

Kevin Smith will be very much missed. I keep looking on his website for some more information, but nothing on there has changed. I found this post, last night, by Jerry Wills on Kevin Smith's Facebook Timeline.

Hi Folks... Kevin's children from Texas have taken possession of his remains and belongings. They have requested a private service for their father. I do not have any details of where he will be buried, nor any information about his funeral. If anything changes I will let you know.

Regarding his wife and son in Thailand; I have no new information. I know many of you have suggested taking a donation for them. I suggest you stand-by. So far as I know no one has been able to reach them. As mentioned, I'll relate any new info when it becomes available.

Sorry I don't have much to tell you but I suppose telling you something is better than remaining silent and leaving you all wondering what's happening. I'm confident you understand.

Jerry"

Hi Folks... I had a really nice talk with two of Kevin's grown children this morning. I have a bit of news.

Firstly, the service will be private. Once Kevin has been buried I will provide the details of his final resting place during the Friday broadcast. This is the family's request.

Kevin had a long history of giving. Many years ago, while traveling with his young family in Europe, he met a young man who felt he might be a great musician if he only had a trombone. The child had no money. Kevin gave him his trombone. Kevin gave us each so much.

The family has requested, to honor Kevin, you might make a donation to a worthy cause instead of sending flowers. As I've always told you, an act of kindness is never wasted.

However you act, it is your decision to make. However, on Friday I will let you know the location of his gravesite if you still wanted to send flowers. Kathy and I will.

No one has been able to reach Kevin's wife and son. The family has the contact number and is attempting to fire up his computer since they usually communicated via Skype. I expect more on this in a few days.

The era of Kevin's show has come to a close. However, Kathy and I are working to continue his legacy through a new show that would be conducted as Kevin would. It of course will not be "The Kevin Smith Show". Kevin is gone... And as you are well aware, no one could replace him.

There are many details surrounding this I want to discuss with you during the show on Friday. Your response will certainly point the direction. In the end it will be you who decide. I will announce details in the days to follow, possibly during the memorial show Friday evening.

I'll update you as information becomes available. Meanwhile, please light a candle Wednesday in memory of Kevin. This is the day he will be laid to rest... Deep peace to you all, dear friends. Deep peace, Kevin...

The time of the show hasn't been told yet bet but I have the link to the new site for the show tonight. Pass this around for all the Kevin Smith fans. http://kss.channel-u.com/

As I suspected that it will happen, Kevin domain run out and site is no more:
www.KevinSmithShow.com

Which means that archive is gone. There is still a possibility that physical place of redirection is still alive but more or a less in a few months it will be gone forever.

My initiative to get login info to archive KPODS was at the end unsuccessful. However I get one private reply that could solve this but member never replied back.

Also my invitation to member "Precog" to contact me in private if he is still active on the forum.

After Kate Valentine left her show, I just archived all of her 256 shows and they are safe if anything happens to online archives. 7,6 gb in total.
