Jesse Marcel Jr. has died today. His daughter posted it on facebook earlier. She has control of his facebook page and will be posting funeral arrangements soon. First Kevin Smith and now Jesse. Jesse was on the Kevin Smith show I think earlier this year. Jesse was a friend on facebook and i'm about to the end of my wit's on this. Dam man. Jerry Wills has taking over the Kevin Smith show and is working on funding it for a year. Check out Jerry's facebook page for info. Jerry did a great job Friday on the memorial show. As Jesse's daughter said, the Roswell legacy will live on in her family.

Another important link to the Roswell legacy gone, but not forgotten.
One brave soul, continuing to speak out while pursuing a military career. Could not have been easy.

His narration about the I-beam hieroglyphics always intrigued me, and will live on until the day a FOIA request about Roswell finally reveals the truth we all know it to be.

R.I.P. Jesse Marcel Jr.

Thanks, Manuel for posting that vid. I believe that is LtCol Kevin Randle sitting next to him. I remember when they both were youngish men.

Jesse Marcel, Jr.'s father began the modern era of UFOlogy, IMO, when he spoke out in the late 1970s and Stanton Friedman interviewed him in 1978. Jesse Marcel, Jr. corroborated an important part of his father's story--having seen pieces of the debris at home when his father stopped in on his way to the base from the debris field. He always remained true to that story and his testimony over the years and who he was as a man has been a major factor in keeping the Roswell Crash from being quietly swept up and thrown away. With the way Jesse Jr.'s father was used by the government, he could have turned out to be a bitter man or a huckster of some sort. Instead he became a good and admirable man, a credit to his father's memory and a credit to his country and UFOlogy. All the big names in the field will have something to say about this sad loss. Jesse Marcel, Jr. made anyplace he was a better place for his presence. With his passing a light has gone out. God rest him and bring comfort to his family and friends.

From L. A. Marzulli's bog found here http://lamarzulli.wordpress.com/2013/07/09/roswell-66-years-ago-my-interview-with-dr-jesse-marcel-jr/

Biographical Information about Dr. Jesse Marcel Jr.
Born 30 August 1936 in Houston, Texas, Marcel is a retired military officer who served as a medical officer in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1971, having received his specialty training in Otolaryngology while in the Navy. He joined the Navy in 1962 just in time to take part in the Cuban Missile Crisis by serving on-board a troop transport ship, just missing being part of the invasion of Cuba when the crisis was thankfully, peacefully concluded.

Rest In Peace.

Breaking ~several hours ago on Sunday, August 25, 2013....
Dear friends in UFO studies: I've just gotten off the phone with Jesse Marcel Jr's. daughter Denise and am the bearer of extremely sad news. JESSE MARCEL Jr has passed away, likely from a heart attack. He was alone at home when it happened, a UFO book by his side. Jesse was a giant to many of us, a modest man whose father, Major Jesse Marcel, Sr., was the Roswell Army Air Field base Intelligence officer, the first to reach and examine the Roswell crash debris field, and who was marked by the Pentagon to take the fall when it was announced the following day that it had only been "a crashed weather balloon." Jesse NEVER once backed down in his all-too-credible account of his father's showing him debris from the crash, and always honored and defended his father's honor, credibility and memory. I'm incredibly proud to have had him as a friend, and incredibly sad this afternoon; I loved him very much and will miss him. The attached photo was taken by his son in Washington the morning of May 3, the last time I saw him. Rest in peace Jesse, and thank you for everything.... DEDICATED TO THE LASTING MEMORY and IMPACT OF JESSE MARCEL Jr's LEGACY....
