That claim might have been true when it first was made. Shortly thereafter there were too many being produced by college kids and groups of pranksters for it to be true, or so the debunkers were saying. Colin Andrews has said that with the claims, counter claims and copy cats, the ability to investigate was seriously compromised and any credibility that he had built up with the general public was destroyed, although he believed there still were genuine circles being made.
