An incident was reported in May that a cylindrical flying object, with a bright light, almost collided with a passenger plane 23 kms from Perth airport. The pilot took evasive action and the object missed the plane by 20 meters. The object was reported as an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle or Drone.

Is it getting too easy to just explain unusual aircraft as a drone? Are they the new weather balloons?

It sounds like a Google balloon, Google has been flying quietly in the U.S., why not Australia as well.
