I can't believe no one has posted this story yet here. Ok I will then.

UFO Descends On Mars, Curiosity NASA, June 27 - UFO NASA 2014
This Video here shows the "light" descending from the sky to/on the Mountain range in the distance of the Mars surface.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOz0Iyjbwkk

Here is the still from Jpl/Nasa site.

That light looks to be in front/on the mountain like inset. It's clearly not behind it. I'm speaking of the photo. In my first link there is a time lapse showing it descending to the mountain range.

Here is a Huffington Post report on what Nasa Explains it to be. They cite two "most likely explanations"(not my words, Nasa's). Here is the report as follows. We already have 1 video in question posted above so I left it out of this re-post of the following article from today.

Did Mars Curiosity Rover Snap Images Of A UFO?
The Huffington Post | By Lee Speigel

If a picture is worth 1,000 words, how much are two pictures worth, especially if they show an odd-looking, allegedly descending light heading to the surface of Mars?

These are real pictures, taken by the Curiosity rover -- some reports say it took place on June 23, but according to information on the raw Jet Propulsion Laboratory images, it was June 20.

In the first JPL full resolution image, a bright light appears above some mountains (taken by the rover's Navcam Right camera). Thirty-one seconds later, the rover's Navcam Left camera snapped an image of the light seemingly closer to the Martian surface.

Watch this short video showing both images of the alleged light above Mars. (Note: reference above post for video)

Are we looking at pictures of a UFO headed for a landing near the Curiosity rover?

Probably not, according to Justin Maki, leader of the team that built and operates Curiosity's navigation camera.

"This is a hot pixel that has been around since we started using the Right Navcam," Maki told The Huffington Post in an email.

Hot pixels, as described by PhotographyLife.com, occur when a camera's sensor becomes hot during long exposures.

This isn't the first time that Curiosity's camera caught something very bright in the distance at the Red Planet.

On April 3, the rover photographed an unusual-looking light shining brightly on the surface of Mars.

"In the thousands of images we've received from Curiosity, we see ones with bright spots nearly every week," Maki said in a NASA statement. "These can be caused by cosmic-ray hits or sunlight glinting from rock surfaces, as the most likely explanations."

[Note: Hat tip to reader Ryan P for alerting HuffPost to the two recent Curiosity Mars images.]

This video below goes into detail a little bit about the Light source on the surface of mars from the pic in the above story from The HuffingtonPost. Check it out.

With a little detective work we find that one image was taken with the Right Navigation camera and the other by 31 seconds later by the Left Navigation Camera. It could Not be a hot pixel as they were implying. If you look closely at the image of whatever the object is you can see what looks like an orb descending with it. That orb would be pixel size, so the object is several pixels in size. There may be several orbs in the image where it is above the mountains as seen in the Right Navigation camera.

Whatever the bright object is, it is descending toward the surface, and it is descending to the right as I see it.

It really makes a difference to use references to the archival data of time and image number. This is one great down falling of UFO reports: we are sloppy! Our credibility is on the line when we are sloppy.

All Right Navigation Camera images have a bright spotin the same location in the frame, so nothing there can contribute to this observation. The Left Navigation Camera image may, or may not, be of something of interest but it is suspect as just a single image and by itself is not a telling tale.

Have you had the chance to check out the video for the picture that was linked above? Actually there are two but the one which may or may not being showing the "hot pixel" as Nasa has stated, thats on the ground or what looks to be at least.

EdwardI thnk the videos miss the point. There are no valid pictures of a UFO from the Right Navigation Camera. See for yourself that the hot spot is in exactly the same position in each of the images where it is not swamped out by the light from the scene being imaged:

The top of the list is the one used in the video.

Among the Left Navigation Camera images I do not find anything like that in the video of the UFO above the Mountains. I only find that one of the bright point UFO and what looks like an accompanying orb. But one picture might just be a cosmic ray as well, it is interesting but not proof of anything.

A reminder here, these links are to the official JPL/NASA archive and are the raw images, no photo-shopping here.

Thanks for the above links and for the elaboration as well.

On a side note though, "A reminder here, these links are to the official JPL/NASA archive and are the raw images, no photo-shopping here". While this may be true here. There is numerous evidence from JPL/NASA over the years of just in fact that. Just because they are put out by JPL/NASA doesn't mean it hasn't been "pre-sanitized" for public consumption.

All the doctored pieces which have been presented as doctored were public information pieces. Archival photos have not been touched
up, they instead disappear when they show something that is a problem.

All true scientific archives are supposed to be saved to TIFF format. Note that these are JPG's, so they do not have the true fidelity of a TIFF image and should be expected to have artifacts embedded from their creation. TIFF's require greater bandwidth and slow down servers, JPL/NASA is doing this public archive on the cheap.

Yeah, I can appreciate that there could be some depreciation from the Tiff's to the Jpeg images. It's understandable.
