On the morning of December 10, 2011, more than 60 people in New Jersey reported that the ground and buildings were shaking. People thought that it was an earthquake like the one this past August but the U.S. Geological Survey said that nothing was picked up by their seismometers.

At 12:27pm EST today , Verizon Wireless customers received a message on their Android phones stating; "CMAS Alert. Civil Emergency in this area until 1:24 PM EST Take Shelter Now." The message was determined to be a false text message.

Are these two events in New Jersey connected or just a weird coincidence? Did anyone here experience either of these?

I heard about it on the news this morning. It is curious. I find it hard to believe it did not register.
If it was a quake it would have registered on both government instruments as well as those in area universities.

I read today that Verizon apologized for putting out an erroneous message.

So I live very close to NJ....less than a mile ...Bucks County PA.

I heard the shaking was possibly a sonic boom that might not have shaken the ground.
