This is really interesting two Kazakstani scientists have looked at our DNA and deduced that it may very well have been designed, certain patterns and symmetries combined point to some patterns that they calculate 1 in 10 trillion to one against them happening by chance.

Highlights
► The SETI hypothesis of an intelligent signal in the genetic code is tested. ► The code is shown to possess an ensemble of same-style precision-type patterns. ► The patterns are shown to match the criteria of an intelligent signal.

What is hidden in our DNA sequence? What message is there for us? There is so much "empty code" in our DNA that might it hold many pages of narrative, telling us what? Given the standard rate of mutation, when was it written into our DNA? And is this just in our human DNA, is it also in the line of apes, or other mammals?

Interestingly the above paper doesn't touch on the DNA sequences per say, which changes all the time due to mutations but to the way it is decoded into amino acids this hasn't changed for billions of years. To quote 'unlike the genomic DNA, the code is stable' There is a lot of analysis of the 64 codons, three base sequences, which specify the 20 amino acids that are used to make proteins.

MAXIM MAKUKOV has an idea. It’s unorthodox; you might call it “out there”. Makukov understands that. He knew he’d have his critics the moment he began to develop it. But it’s there in the numbers, he says. And numbers don’t lie.

A cosmologist and astrobiologist at the Fesenkov Astrophysical Institute in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Makukov says the numbers reveal that all terrestrial life came from outer space. Not only that, it was planted on Earth by intelligent aliens. Billions of years ago, the planet was barren and lifeless. But then, at some distant and unknowable moment, it was seeded with what Makukov calls an “intelligent-like signal” – a signal that is too orderly and intricate to have occurred randomly.

This signal, he says, is in our genetic code. Highly preserved across cosmological timescales, it has been waiting there, like an encrypted message, for anyone qualified to read it. All of the teeming varieties of life on Earth – from kangaroos and daffodils to albatrosses and us – carry it within them. And now Makukov, along with his mentor, mathematician Vladmir shCherbak of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty, claims to have cracked it. If they are right, the answer to life, the universe and everything is… 37...

Why this is so important is not that they are saying the hidden in our DNA is a code but that hidden in the way DNA works is a code. I.e. Implying the DNA itself is a technology that someone designed and let loose.

There is another paper of their's here http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2214552414000455

It's weird to watch the scientific world discover something that seems so obvious to us. I get the feeling that at some point evolution will have to make the jump to aliens. Something catastrophic will happen for the evolutionary theory that will make them resort to that. Dawkins has said he would accept an intelligent design theory if it were aliens. I think he said it in the Ben Stein movie "no intelligence allowed". Evolution has been under a catastrophe of plain observation for a long time. You see code, gears, machine parts like the flagellum it's hard not to look at it and think yeah that looks designed. It's taken a lot of blows too, finding complex life way back in time, and the Cambrian explosion but it's always been able to add mechanisms to get it back on track. If however they found something major that could give the world an extraterrestrial source I think they would take it rather than continue to add mechanisms.

This may come as no surprise to some of you that their research is referred to indirectly in 'Gods Man and War' by De Longe and Levanda. p. 184-5
Levanda mentions more will come about DNA in Book three mentioning a paper by 'two Kazakhstan' scientists (shCherbaka and Makukov are both from Kazakh National University) 'first published in 2013' - (below is their May 2013 paper 'The “Wow! signal” of the terrestrial genetic code')

Yes, but taking into account inflation and devaluation, 42 is only worth 37 anymore... :biggrin2:

This is their latest paper hard to make sense of it pretty dense but does seem to have even more odd symmetries.
