Coming from Darkness

Title 14, Chapter V, Section 1211 Federal Regulations, passed into law on July 16, 1969. Anyone in contact with an extraterrestrial and or UFO is jailed. NASA can enforce quarantine that a court order cannot break. Removed from Code in 1991.

Coming from Darkness is an epic near future Science fiction novel.

After a UFO crashed into a motel, public outcry demanded action. A governmental agency moved a Disclosure plan ahead of schedule. In the name of public safety, Title 14, Chapter V, Section 1211 Federal Regulations is reinstated. Alien abductees are herded into special Concentration Camps.

In the years following, RFID biochip implants go from voluntary to the law of the land, and anyone refusing placed into retraining camps. Government scanners for biochips double as scanners for alien implants.

First three years after Disclosure, young alien abductee Bryce had unintentionally dodged capture. When biochips became law, he fled into the wilds to live among survivalists. Former operatives of a shadow government whom had defected scanned him for an alien implant.

Bryce is not simply a former abductee - He is an Unknown abductee. Like a society gone mad around them, survivalists fear former alien abductees.

They suspect that aliens programed him to complete a secret mission. The government learned he is an Unknown, and intensified their hunt for him.

Abandoned by aliens, pursued by the government and hated by society, Bryce must come to terms with an abusive past. He must learn to forgive others and forgive himself.

All the while, he must evade capture and learn what it means to be an Unknown and discover whatever his mission was.

Thanks... I hope you enjoy it.

Years ago, story-within-the-story made a family member cringe. I asked if King or Koontz covered that topic would they have cringed? Answer, no... Over the years, I kept hinging on a complete rewrite from scratch.

A friend who has numerous bestselling novels said, I handled the subject matter of the story-within-story very well and should leave it in.

Decades ago: Title 14, Chapter V, Section 1211 Federal Regulations was pointed out to me. That law was removed from the books in 1991. I suspect there is something akin to it still around. For the sake of the story, I had it reinstated at the time of Disclosure.

Coming from Darkness was a lengthy journey. Back in the early 90s, I roughed it out in two and half months - then let it simmer. Went into it countless times, rewrites and edits. It was a near future novel, time passed and stuff started coming to pass - it was cool... Not prophetic, it was "Feeling the pulse of society". Wished I had published it years ago...

CFD takes place in the same fictional universe as Ages Past and Perceptional Threshold. I admit to having fun with that...

I do not expect CFD to take-off... Are there errors? Yes, and to be honest it does bother me - yet there is a point where I simply have to put it out there and move-on. The author who assured story-within-story was handled well, also told me put your stuff out there and allow readers to enjoy watching you improve with each new book.

CFD has a complex darkness that is tough for a lot of people to wrap their heads around.

 I do worry, some people will find it difficult to follow aspects of the concept. Complex stories are a no-no for fiction. If I spell it out, it would ruin the dawning forehead slap  and "damn that was deep."

I have had three bestselling authors tell me, they believed my fifth book would take-off. Basically, it would take five books to catch my footing for style. I hope they are right.

Bristol will be book four.

Books five and six are the start of a new series. Bad guy Benson / Yarin from CFD is in both books, the series takes place prior to CFD. I have a concept and title for a sequel to CFD... First, I have to get this new series rolling then I'd like to revisit characters from Perceptional Threshold and Ages Past.

Bottom Line: Coming from Darkness... Alien Contamination, Interference and Intervention...
