From the Wright Brothers first flight on December 14, 1903 to the just completed Shuttle missions of today, manned flight has always fascinated.

FIRST FA-22 FIGHTERS DELIVERED TO LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE.
These are Great In-flight Photos of the FA-22 as the first Aircraft Delivery was being made to Langley AFB in Va. Langley is to be first Operational AFB for the FA-22. It is a very beautiful AFB, located in a picturesque location, as you can see in these photos, near Norfolk and Hampton, Va.
The Aircraft flying along with the FA-22 in the last of these photos is the F-15, which will be replaced by the FA-22 which is several times better.

In Actual In-flight (simulated) Combat Operations against the F-15, two FA-22s were able to operate without detection while they went Head to Head against (8) F-15s. The FA-22s scored Missile Hits (Kills) against all the F-15 Aircraft and the F/A-22s were never Detected by either the F-15s or Ground Based Radar.
Maj. Gen. Rick Lewis said:
'The Raptor Operated Against All Adversaries with Virtual Impunity; Ground Based Systems Couldn't Engage and NO Adversary Aircraft Survived'! FA-22 --- America 's Most Advanced Fighter Aircraft for the 21st Century!
They're a titanium and carbon fiber dagger. They're so advanced that if their on-board locator is switched off even our own satellites can lose track of them. They're the first military aircraft ever built that is equipped with a 'black-out button'. What that means is this:
The best conditioned fighter pilots are capable of maintaining consciousness up to in the vicinity of 15+ G. The Raptor is capable of making 22+ G turns. If someday an adversary builds a missile that is capable of catching up to one of these airplanes and a Raptor pilot sees that a strike is imminent, he hits the 'b.o.b.' and the airplane makes a virtual U-turn, leaving the missile to pass right on by. They know that in the process he'll temporarily lose consciousness, so the Raptor then automatically comes back to straight and level flight until he wakes back up.

Not all maiden flights end well.

This is a photo of the Global Hawk UAV that returned
from the war zone recently under its own power.
( Iraq to Edwards AFB in CA) -
Not transported via C5 or C17.....
Notice the mission paintings on the fuselage.
It's actually over 250 missions...
(and I would suppose 25 air medals).
That's a long way for a remotely-piloted aircraft.
Think of the technology (and the required quality
of the data link to fly it remotely). Not only that
but the pilot controlled it from a nice warm control
panel at Edwards AFB. Really long legs- can stay
up for almost 2 days at altitudes above 60k.

The Global Hawk was controlled via satellite; it flew
missions during OT&E that went from Edwards AFB
to upper Alaska and back non-stop. Basically, they
come into the fight at a high mach # in mil thrust,
fire their AMRAAMS, and no one ever sees them or
paints with radar.

There is practically no radio chatter because all the
guys in the flight are tied together electronically,
and can see who is targeting who, and they have
AWACS direct input and 360 situational awareness
from that and other sensors The aggressors had a
morale problem before it was all over. It is to air
superiority what the jet engine was to aviation.
It can taxi, take off, fly a mission, return, land and
taxi on it's own. No blackouts, no fatigue, no relief
tubes, no ejection seats, and best of all, no dead pilots, no POWs?

Pretty cool !!!

3783793803812010 airshow. We took 5 of the 7 flying P-38s from Chino to the Sacramento (Calif) Capital airshow at Mather for the weekend show. John Maloneyflew chase in our P-51...first we joined up over lake mathews for a quick and dirty photo shoot then climbed up and headed north..along the way Hinton decided we would buzz shafter where his son was preparing "Stega" for Reno..so we went whistling by there hangar line a breast at about 300 and pulled and came around single ship....climbed back up and joined up..then about Fresno, the AIr Museums P-38 " 23Skidoo" cracked a head so we followed her to desecent at FAT and pressed on.....then about 10 out of KMHR Hinton again decided on some tom folerery and we did a super low echelon pass at Sanders private strip at Ione before we headed to KMHR for a fan break with the mustang as -5 cameras rolling...At one point in the flight Maloney came from behind in the Mustang and dove down our right and pulled up into a giant exagerated barrel roll aour the rather loose goose formation so the camera man could snap a photo thru the canopy of the mustang as he was inverted over the P-38 flight.....what a fun deal that was......

MOD NOTE: This is a series of about 20 pics. Drop me a PM if you like these, I'll post the rest if everyone like these. :)
