The FDA has announced that an approved medicine has been forced to undergo new certification testing due to previously unseen side effects when the new formulation of a medicine started to show up was made using nano-technology sized compound of one of the ingredients. When nano-technology becomes involved the electron cloud surrounding the molecules is changed and the compound will act differently from one of larger molecular structure. The FDA has also announced that all future nano-technology compounds will be retested even when they have been previously approved.
The use of nano-technologies has changed our understanding of the chemistry involved where we must now see that size does matter.
