The 2008 financial crisis cost the U.S. economy at least $12.8 trillion, a new study found -- and that's a "very conservative number," according to the authors.

The study, timed to coincide with the fourth anniversary of the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy, is a direct counter to the banking industry's relentless warnings of the potential costs of new financial regulations.

The cost of letting the banks wreck the global economy again is far, far higher.

Comment.......That is the same for loosing every American $40,000, nice, real nice.

And if that isn't nauseating enough, wait till we experience the loss of purchasing power when QE1, QE2, QE3, and QE Infinity destroy the value of our dollar and our purchasing powers. The Central Banks policy of print print print will come home to roost and most of us on this forum will never see the end of it.

If you are lucky and have some stock in areas that will grow and have some commodities, you will see growth, but most Americans have been flattened in the first and second crashes of 2001 and 2007. It will be very difficult to turn this ship around now as it has been further burdened by poor economic policies and spending. What we need are jobs and businesses that are growing. No such thing, as businesses are fearful of taxes and regulations right now. So they do not hire or expand.
There's more, but I'll stop there.

Egan Jones has downgraded the US from AA to AA-
This is a negative outlook.
Also with Bernake buying $40 billion in bonds per month till things pick up that puts a lot of money in circulation spurring inflation concerns.
Jeez, will someone please take the wheel on this bus and starting driving !?
