Feeling the Pulse of Society.

Feeling the Pulse of Society is a term I used years ago to describe making an educated guess as to the direction an issue is headed.

Over the years, I have written a number of blog style articles on current events. Most of the time the document is saved and sits there on the hard-drive, using bits and pieces in a post here and there. But for the most part it gathers electronic dust. I plan to use this blog spot to post those blogs and articles.

Will blow off the electronic dust from a few and see if there is anything usable to post over the next few days.

These blogs / articles can be off the mark and sometimes not.

There was a running joke decades ago you had the right to contact the FBI and ask to see their file on you. If they didn't already have a file on you, they would gladly create one.

Feds claim there are no files per individual, however they are able to pull a history of data together and create one on demand. Feds admit they are saving data, but only pull it together in the event a case is needed to be built against someone.

In the near future, law enforcement will again be exposed accessing saved data without warrants. This past year the DEA was caught doing just that, and criminal cases involved no longer covered by major media outlets - keeping public in the dark as to how court ruled. They will point at drug dealers and other criminal behavior, and without warrant-less ease dropping many criminals would continue breaking the law without being discovered and caught. The issue will bouncing back and forth in the courts, ruling one way than another way keeping the public confused about what courts are allowing.

This behavior will continue to worsen. Expect a major event in 2014 or 2015 used to "justify" collection of data and blanket surveillance.

Most courts will continue ruling in favor of blanket surveillance.

First, to make this clear – I do not intend to offend anyone persons’ religious beliefs.

Are we witnessing a religious faction telling its followers they are not allowed to travel to another planet?

CNN News: UAE Islamic affairs authority warns Muslims against a mission to Mars.

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (CNN) -- The Oscar-nominated film "Gravity" traces the harrowing tale of astronaut Ryan Stone after a mission goes horribly wrong. She's lost in space and struggles to try to make her way back to Earth.

"Gravity" is just a film. Imagine a similar real-life scenario: Would there be any chance of survival?

That's a concern for the General Authority of Islamic Affairs & Endowments, or GAIAE, the United Arab Emirates' religious watchdog, for anyone who wishes to travel to Mars. The GAIAE has issued a fatwa, or an official Islamic ruling, to warn Muslims against a Mars mission.

So far, the UAE has supported space travel. Abu Dhabi's Aabar Investments teamed up with Richard Branson's Virgin group to create Virgin Galactic to provide spaceflights for tourists, starting this year. But a mission to Mars, it seems, is one step too far.

The mission is being planned by the Dutch nonprofit foundation Mars One. In April 2013, it announced its ambitions to establish a human settlement on the Red Planet by 2024.
But the GAIAE likens the journey to a suicide mission. On the authority's free 24-hour hotline, the issue was deliberated by the center's specialized muftis, or scholars, who issued the following statement: "It is not permissible to travel to Mars and never to return if there is no life on Mars. The chances of dying are higher than living."

Taking one's life willingly is against Islamic principles.

In response, Mars One issued a statement asking the UAE's Islamic authorities to cancel the fatwa, saying every precaution would be taken to reduce the risk to life. "If we may be so bold: the GAIAE should not analyze the risk as they perceive it today," the statement says. "The GAIAE should assess the potential risk for humans as if an unmanned habitable outpost is ready and waiting on Mars. Only when that outpost is established will human lives be risked in Mars One's plan."

The statement includes a verse from the Quran that "encourages Muslims to go out and see the signs of God's creation in the 'heavens and the earth.' " It goes on to say the first Martian settlers would walk in the footsteps of great Muslim explorers like Ibn Battuta, the 14th century Moroccan journeyman whose travels took him across North Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Indeed, space travel isn't alien to Muslim culture. There have been Muslim space explorers in the past.

Yes, the article does mention Muslims having taken part in space exploration. Read the entire article at CNN for details of that fact. That someone is willing to risk their life in pursuit of exploration does not equal suicide. Again, I am not mocking anyone religious belief.

Disclosure of intelligent life beyond this planet is fast approaching, we must prepare and defend the way.

Yes, there is proof of issues within local police agencies in the United States...

Over the past few months, I have heard on national news media outlets: A suggestion of consolidation of local, county and state law enforcement for greater accountability.

As it stands, one police agency investigation of another police agency is sketchy at best.

A consolidation of law enforcement means one agency to investigate itself, unless there is a Federal investigation.

If local, county and state police are consolidated - how long until it is merged with Federal law enforcement?

In truth, a consolidation is another step toward a broader Police State.
