Your descriptions sound similar to Peyote Button and/or mescaline "trips".

    Mind altering substances for sure.
    But going to another realm?
Suspect it is just simply altered perceptions.

Many years ago I read Carlos Castenada's series of books about a Yaqui Shaman that lead him on spiritual journeys, fueled by such psychotropic substances.
You might enjoy the books, probably still in print.

You only get one brain. Playing with brain chemistry can be fun, but is it safe? Who knows for sure?

Yes I've read the Carlos Casteneda books some years ago & I enjoyed them greatly

All I can tell you really is I found DMT Very different from any other psychedelics that I've taken including mushrooms, LSD & Peyote Buttons.
It really does feel like a different place!

Ayahuasca is the orally active version (which I've never tried) but I'd like to because the experience is much longer, maybe a comparson can be made with DMT & ayahuasca, but the other drugs as enlightening as those experiences were I felt like I had to wait for toxins to leave my body. With DMT I actually felt cleansed & encouraged to live a cleaner lifestyle! & I wasn't the only one!

Is it safe? well we can never really know 100% but I'm fine with the risk I'm taking which is most prob a lot less risk than smoking tobacco or drinking regularly.
I've read Strassmans book (the Spirit Molecule) & they were taking much higher doses in pure form intravienously... the brain actually craves DMT & is used up very quickly hence the short duration of the experience. it is an endogenous substance meaning it is created in the body.

Strassmans theory is that the Pineal gland naturaly excretes DMT during birth, death & any spiritual experience, enabling the soul to enter & exit the body, & this guy is a scientist

I've encoutered a few sceptical 'psychedelic soilders' before, all of which had never tried DMT... maybe give it a go calikid? you might just be surprised!

I seem to recall a saying from the 60's

LSD is a long strange journey and DMT is like being shot out of a cannon.

Give it a go? Not sure I like the idea of being the cannon ball.
Soaring thru the air might be fun, but the landing gives me pause! haha

    Calikid,

it sounds absolutely crazy I know but if you experienced it you'd know! (by the way, I'm not saying people should take it, I would but I know I can't and shouldn't so won't )

If an altered perception doesn't mean seeing places, other massively never ending looking spaces filled with lights and beings! An altered perception is like being drunk or something like that, DMT doesn't do any of that, you are you just seeing with your third eye!

You are still in exactly the same frame of mind as are were before you took it but you are seeing into somewhere else honest, why do you think I am going on about it so much?

If you haven't looked into it Calikid you'd like the documentary, the people on there talking are very humble people, you can see it changed their way of thinking.

I'm just trying to gather as many thoughts on it as possible because it is really something else.

Thanks Koisoteric for your cousin's testimony ! Maybe more some day ?
Some call it Mind expanding substance..

One of Dr Strassman's volunteers said :
"You can still be an atheist until 4mg/kg..." (injection, not smoke).

    Source : The Spirit Molecule

BTW, don't anyone worry too much about your precious ego-self,
you'll get it back far too soon when the 10 minutes experience is over.

I would agree that its not for the fainthearted calikid, if you are predisposed to fear maybe not a good idea, I wouldn't recomend it as a first time psychedelic experience either (although I know several people who's only psychedelic experience was DMT)
