Thread: What music are you listening to now...?

    Jerry Jeff Walker March 16, 1942 – October 23, 2020

    Mr. Bojangles

1968, the song reached number 77 on U.S. Billboard Hot 100
Over the years that followed, Mr. Bojangles was covered by a number of musicians and returned to the charts.

From Wikipedia: Walker said he was inspired to write the song after an encounter with a street performer in a New Orleans jail. While in jail for public intoxication in 1965, he met a homeless man who called himself "Mr. Bojangles" to conceal his true identity from the police. Mr. Bojangles had been arrested as part of a police sweep of indigent people that was carried out following a high-profile murder. The two men and others in the cell chatted about all manner of things, but when Mr. Bojangles told a story about his dog, the mood in the room turned heavy. Someone else in the cell asked for something to lighten the mood, and Mr. Bojangles obliged with a tap dance.

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Mr Bojangles
    .
A nice rendition. Like the Mandolin & Harmonica about half way through.

    RIP Jerry Walker

Very relaxing. Thanks for sharing Garuda.
Can't tell if they are playing a Sitar, or a Hammered Dulcimer.
If it is Sitar (an instrument I associate with India/Buddhist culture), it lacks the usual twangy notes... sort of muted.
The bass is deep and vibrant, also unlike most Sitar music I'm familiar with. Processed?
Cello & percussion are clear, and well played.
Tried searching Youtube for a video showing the artist(s) on stage hoping for visual instrument ID, I would say no joy but this was a joy to hear.

Boston released their first album in 1976

    Rock & Roll Band

Album Don't Look Back released 1978

    Album Third Stage released 1986
    We're Ready

Next albums were Walk On, then a Greatest Hits and Corporate America

In December 2013 the band released Life, Love and Hope.
Boston had a number of hits. It's difficult to pick a favorite.
