RIP Ray Thomas
The "Legends of A Mind" song really takes me back to High School daze.
Some debate over the lyrics, among my friends.
"Timothy Leary's dead"; this was late 1960s/early 1970s and LSD use was on the wane. Popular thought was LSD (Leery was PRO LSD advocate) use was done/over.
"No, it's outside. Looking in". Popular thought, LSD use had only declined in the USA, and moved on to Europe.

progress. -- Joseph Joubert

Personally, I thought the lyrics had more to do with eastern philosophy. Death to self/ to look in and see the connection to Buddha consciousness. "To be in this world but not of it." Yes folks that saying is originally Buddhist not xian. To my perspective LSD was isolated from ergot, well, lets go back. It is thought that it was used in the initiation right into the (Dionysian mystery religion) but in modern times of course which we most reference, it was isolated and purified in Europe.
Actually the Moody Blues house/studio was well know as the place to trip back in the mid 60's.
Is LSD done/over even today. It and other psychoactive seem to be making a comeback that is if they ever left. Again just my perspective, but I think most of us learned pretty quickly that they were not "recreational" substances.
Just heard this one again for the first time in years... Dave Edmunds, Girls Talk
