Epo - I agree with Doc - Great song!



Here is where I feel stupid. Always thought Arlo Guthrie or his father wrote that song - Duh - It was Steve Goodman but Arlo did record it.

Calikid, that Billy Idol tune raised a few memories.

Steve Goodman died way too young. He also wrote "You Never Even Called Me By My Name" for David Alan Coe, which is a Country standard and a funny parody of Country music themes. Heck, David Alan Coe is a "funny parody", too. I'm not sure he knows that.

Steve Goodman Live in 1972 - City of New Orleans

Steve Goodman won two Grammy awards writing primarily folk songs. David Allen Coe, Outlaw Country singer/songwriter who got his biggest Billboard hit from Steve Goodman liked to tell about meeting Steve for the first time. Paraphrasing: Coe thought, on the basis of his music, that he'd be some scruffy old bearded folkie or a young hippie type like Arlo Guthrie. He was surprised when Goodman turned out to be a 'nice, clean cut, normal looking dude'. Coe ended the story with 'The Lord moves in mysterious ways'.
