When it made the shift to Talk Radio, they had built a new building. Before the new building, I did part time DJ work at the old offices, then board operator for the satellite relay at the new building until the computers started working properly.

    Ahhh, got it Casper:

    The call letters changed again in 1983 when Root Communications of Daytona Beach bought WQPD and changed the calls to WLKF. After a period programming an Adult Contemporary music format, the deejays were cut loose and the station switched to an automated News/Talk format.

    I lived about 100 yrds from the very building!

    Now here is a genuine oldie if I do say so myself . . .

    <snip video2>

    And the morning or evening star . . .

    <snip video3>
    Age of Aquarius, very 60's.
    For those who didn't already know, the lyrics from this song reference Astrology predictions; as related to actual Astronomical Planetary alignments that occurred back in the day.
    Considering such events (like Comets, etc.) were usually portents of doom throughout the ages, it was refreshing for a change to celebrate a positive spin.

    I still recall the opening lyrics for this song by memory some 50 years later.
    One of the few songs I can say that about. Impactful works.
    .
    "When the moon is in the Seventh House.
    And Jupiter aligns with Mars.
    Then peace will guide the planets.
    And love will steer the stars.

    This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius..."

    .

    From that same time period, another classic.
    Superstar (From "Jesus Christ Superstar" Soundtrack)

    Lyrics (Sung to Jesus, by Judas ):
    "Every time I look at you, I don't understand.
    Why you let the things you did get so out of hand.
    You'd have managed better if you'd had it planned.
    Why'd you choose such a backward time and such a strange land?
    If you'd come today, you would have reached a whole nation.
    Israel in 4 BC had no mass communication..."

    .
    Can you imagine seeing Twitter/Factbook/etc. Communicating Love instead of Hate?
    Sometimes it makes me sad; contemplating the choices people make.

    It's a strange connection. It's one of those; What are the odds?
