So as of now there are two images from NASA itself of what would seem to be the TR-3B secret spaceplane in space near the flight of STS61C, or a genuine UFO. NASA, you got some splainin to do!

This document is the inspection report on the tiles on the orbiter Columbia after landing. Only 7 damages on the bottom exceeded 1 inch, there were 2 on the upper side and 4 on the right OMS Pod (p. 48). Each of these damages would have occurred during launch and would have left the vicinity of the shuttle immediately during the launch. The object in the photographs clearly seems to be much larger than a few inches. The tiles of the Shuttle are only surfaced black on the exposed surface and are white otherwise. It seems totally unlikely that what was photographed was a damaged portion of the tiles from the Shuttle.

To me it looks like a very large object at a distance, nothing at all like a piece of debris. Has there been any analysis or other discussion of these pictures elsewhere?

Notice ATS links in previous posts, both from current surge of interest and from back in 2006.
