But, yes, he often made me laugh.

    RIP John Hurt at 77yo
Who can forget his portrayal of Kane in the original ALIEN? His gripping death scene was a highlight in a 4 star movie.

    RIP John Hurt
A truly great & unique actor, I can't imagine 1984 with any other actor such was the way he owned the role.

    May he RIP.

He was going to be in the star trek fan film that was sued. It was still in the making if all went well in the courts. IT's all still playing out. Man, my girl friend will be bummed. She really loved him.

Re Axanar: an out of court settlement was reached. They are allowed to tell the story in two 15-minute short films, instead of the 90-min one they had in mind.
They hadn't started shooting yet, so his character will have to be played by somebody else, unfortunately.

Mildred Dresselhaus, 'Queen Of Carbon' And Nanoscience Trailblazer, Dies At 86

She laid the foundation of nanotechnology by predicting the existence of carbon nanotubes before anyone had actually seen these tiny but very strong structures for the first time,

"She invented breakthrough techniques for studying individual layers of carbon atoms. She discovered ways to capture the thermal energy of vibrating particles at well-defined 'boundaries,' and then to use that heat to make electricity.
"She devised carbon fibers that are stronger than steel at a fraction of steel's weight. Her research helped usher in the age of nanotechnology, the wildly popular effort to downsize electronic circuits, medical devices and a host of other products to molecular dimensions."
