Thread: Demise of alienscientist forum?

For every page it generates, vBulletin needs to connect to the database.
If there is no database connection, vBulletin will give a database error message.
(The programmed php code executes as expected, and gives programmed feedback when it encounters a problem).

Those are completely different from error messages generated by PHP itself.
(The programmed php code cannot be executed, and PHP itself gives an error).

Just received an e-mail from Jeremy of alienscientist forum. It is being shut down. It was good while it lasted. I would like to thank those here at Outpost Forum for the offer of help to us. You are honorable people. I will be around more often. Thanks!

While this is sad, if it could not be maintained there seems little choice but to give it up. Thanks to those who contributed, and I hope they put there efforts here.

It's a pity... Yet another source of good information disappears.

Was there any backup made of that forum or is it all gone?

I can only guess but I think since it was not backed up. I lost a lot of threads over there. Maybe I can get on the Internet Wayback Machine and recover some.

When I checked at 4PM the site was back up and running. No explanation that I see, but it appears to be running as before.
