Gary McKinnon (born 10 February 1966) is a Scottish[1] systems administrator and hacker who was accused in 2002 of perpetrating the "biggest military computer hack of all time," although McKinnon himself...states that he was merely looking for evidence of free energy suppression and a cover-up of UFO activity and other technologies potentially useful to the public.
Gary watched the 2001 Disclosure Project National Press Club conference testimonies and decided to look for the evidence himself.
He claimed the administrator passwords on most of the computers were unset making it very easy to create a backdoor and then daisy chain from computer to computer. He only had a 56Kb modem. The security must have been virtually no existent.
He found two bits of crucial evidence:
The first was a list of transfers for non-terrestrial officers aboard ships that were clearly not naval ships.
The second was verification of something Donna Hare, an ex NASA, claimed in he Disclosure Project Testimony. She alleged that she went into Johnson Space Center's Building 8 where a colleague showed here images, before and after UFOs had been scrubbed out before showing to the public. Donna was a member of a Houston Contactee club and had made it known that she was interested in UFOs will working at NASA and that is how the incident came to take place.

Gary managed to hack his way, along a string of computers until he got into a console in Building 8 where he claims he found two folders marked something like Unfiltered and Filtered. He saw one craft clearly above the atmosphere which was no of this world.
This is a great interview by Project Camelot of Gary the one used in the recent Hangar 1 UFO Files S01E06 Space Weapons

It took years of campaigning to get finally get Gary's extradition over turned and the experience was taking it's toll.
Many claimed that he had damaged hundreds thousands of dollars worth of Naval computers but there is no real evidence of that if anything he just highlighted there very poor security. That cost them a great deal to fix.
Pretty much as Gary decided to download the filtered and unfiltered images from NASA he got caught. At one point there was a list floating around the internet of the space craft. But it disappeared never to be found again if anyone could dig it up that would be a great challenge. I think his genuine motives make him a hero but other disagree.
