    Odd Terminology

Listening to the BBC world news as they were talking about the wars between various tribes in Africa, the lady reporter was talking about people who were "forcibly disappeared". I find this an odd term and while I understand what it is trying to convey, is there a casual disappearance, or incidental disappearance?

    Maybe disappeared through presumed misadventure?
Like on a hike in a large park, probably took a fall or some other accident lacking evil intent.
