Streaking object in sky sets social media abuzz

A mysterious light dashing across the dark western sky Wednesday night <July 27,2016> caused a buzz on social media.

Twitter users reported seeing what appeared to be a meteor over the skies of California, Nevada, Utah, Idaho and Colorado. Oakland and Walnut Creek residents tweeted blurry photos of the flying space debris.

A Utah man tweeted a 44-second video of the happening, showing a large chunk of possible meteor breaking into smaller pieces as it made a lazy trek across the sky.

The California Highway Patrol received multiple reports about the object around 9:45 p.m.

Candice Nguyen, 35, of San Jose, said her husband, Miguel Lozano, 34, saw the fireball. It took about two minutes for the object to cross the night sky, headed in the direction of Los Banos. Story Continues
