    Upgrading vBulletin

The version of vBulletin we're using (4.x) is several years old, but with all the necessary patches installed.

The newer versions have better support for mobile devices. There even is an option to create an app specifically for this forum.

Upgrading, however, costs money, and will also cause the forum to be offline, probably for 2 or 3 days to transfer and convert all the data.

We could foot the bill for that ourselves (i.e. the staff), as we have done in the past, or we could set up a gofundme page to raise the approx. $ 400 needed.

What do you think? Would you be willing to contribute?

    Your choices are:
    - option 1: we just leave things as they are
    - option 2: we only upgrade the software, without financial support from our members.
    - option 3: we only upgrade the software, with financial support from our members through a GoFundMe page. It's approx. $270.
    - option 4: we go for the full latest version, including a forum specific app for iOs and Android, but without the financial support from our members
    - option 5: we go for the full latest version, including a forum specific app for iOs and Android, but with financial support from our members through a GoFundMe page. The cost is approx. $400.
An opinion should be the result of thought, not a substitute for it.

Lot of people are using smart phones for internet. Phone app sounds like a good idea.

    So, option 4 or 5?

3 or 5 for me quite happy to support you guys.
Not sure an app is necessary, I am always posting on my mobile.
The most annoying part is predictive text, you barely see errors on a small screen, they end up as mistakes in posts.
