    Animal Mutilation Wave - 2020

2020 has been a strange year, it has to be said, with the global coronavirus epidemic dominating news across the world. The summer months brought more strangeness in the form of animal mutilations across France, the UK and Oregon, USA.

Taking inspiration from the US government's Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP), we put together a set of 'five observables or 'calling cards': which might help identify genuine cases of unusual animal mutilation.

Unusual Animal Mutilation (UAM) - 'calling cards'

    - Remote location; no evidence of a struggle, no tracks, no signs of predation, suggestion animal was killed elsewhere and deposited at the scene.

    - No blood, or very little blood found at the scene, possible evidence of exsanguination.

    - Precise, almost surgical, removal of tissue and organs, usually bloodless suggesting that the cuts were made post mortem.

    - Flesh removed from jaw area, exposing clean bone, ears cut back to skull, circular or oval incision to rectal area, eyes and genitals frequently removed and absent from scene. Small holes through which organs are sometimes removed.

    - UAP, UFO, strange lights and/or other unusual aerial activity, such as helicopters, observed in or around the area. May also be associated with other types of paranormal phenomena, such as cryptids or poltergeist activity.

The following reports conform to the above criteria:

*Correction, this article from 2014* More incidents, this time in Utah:

"Three young cows were found dead of unknown causes in the last two weeks, and there were two unexplained cattle deaths last year at about this same time. All of the cows have shown evidence of postmortem mutilation, leading law enforcement to suspect foul play."

Wow, with that many large animal deaths, I would expect a hand full of human deaths. "thick clouds of mosquitoes" wouldn't discriminate. Weird!

Luckily people have the option to go inside. Would a barn offer enough protection for livestock?
