Chronology report for the Carmarthenshire and Cornwall horse mutilation cases

It was requested from me to prepare the report for the UFOMIG (Missouri Investigators Group) about the recent cases. I am forwarding the report below that will give the best overview so far for the first two cases: (recent posts on the third case in Devon represent update on this report below):

    Dear colleagues.

Barb requested me today to share information about animal mutilation cases that recently happened in UK. Some of those reports I recently sent on different mailing lists. I will try to merge all of those reports in one single report here for the MIG list so you could have all the data on one place.

Before I begin the most important material that will give you the best overview of the current situation can be found in my audio clipping. You can download it here on this link (archived on adrive):

Let's continue now with the report:

Horse mutilation cases in UK awoke some interest as they happened in close time period; few days after the cow mutilation in Kansas. Please note that there is still no evidence that all those cases are connected. UK cases can't be categorized with certainty as a "classic mutilation" cases yet (there is a possibility that horses were mutilated by a man with a knife as some media report). However, researchers in UK are currently working on it, trying to establish is there any basis to claim that horse cases could be "classic mutilation" cases, or not.

In summary, as I said, after cow mutilation case in Kansas, two additional cases of horse mutilation not long after happened in UK. Here is the short chronology that will give readers the best overview about the whole
    situation:

CURRENT AFTERMATH OF THE FIRST HORSE MUTILATION CASE (Carmarthenshire):
    ----------------------------------------------------------

Police concluded investigation on the first horse mutilation case in Carmarthenshire (http://tinyurl.com/7pkzcpp) and stated that horse died of natural causes. However, Nicola, daughter of Linda Vickerage that owned mutilated pony, sent this message over Facebook:

I'm Nicola, the daughter of Linda. Thanks for the lovely supportive comments. As you can imagine this is devastating. Barney was a rescue pony and the sweetest gentile little soul. I'm reading the news reports that the "police are doing an investigation"..well that's just not true...they took two hours to respond to the call, didn't even bother to go and look at his body on Thursday when it was reported and only did on Friday when my brother and I insisted that they do so. Since then the police have never once asked any questions or showed any interest in the mutilation of Barney. A two foot long by one foot deep cut deep cut has been made along Barney's stomach and his genitals (he was a stallion) have been removed, his eyes, ears and mouth were cut. I asked the police who attended on Friday why they haven't treated this as suspicious when anyone can see with an untrained eye that the wound to his abdomen was foul play. Her comment....."it was dark when we saw the pony's body" It was evident that boot prints and other evidence were around the scene. Now another poor stallion in Cornwall has been taken under the same fate. Can anyone help us get the word out about how serious this needs to be treated? We really need help to stop this happening again and find the people who did this to these two stallions. To date I have £500 reward for anyone giving information leading to a conviction..so please if you think you may know anything please contact us. Please email me with any help or information you might have missmann2001@yahoo.com. I just wont stop or let these thugs sleep easy until we have justice for our dear friend Barney.
Thanks again for your heart warming messages. Nicola

CURRENT AFTERMATH OF THE SECOND HORSE MUTILATION CASE (Cornwall):
    ----------------------------------------------------------

Although first mutilation horse case (Carmarthenshire) was not so much covered in the media, there was a very strong reaction from the Cornwall community about the second case. To hear situation directly on the ground please download my audio clipping on this link here (uploaded on adrive - if there will be any problems with the download please let me know):

MY PASTED REPORT ON AUDIO CLIPPING SUBMITTED ON JANUARY 12, 2012 SENT ON MY PERSONAL MAILING LIST:
    Start of paste:
    ----------------------------------------------------------

I worked hard on this for the last two days. Had to manually locate and extract audios from the complete show that lasted three hours. This is just a preliminary clipping to meet the needs of real time as much is possible.
Lee you are free to forward this too to a research that you are currently working on this.

There are more reports and interviews on this in others shows. I preliminary detected them, but there will be no time for me at the moment to process the whole batch. It will be done but in the future like with my other releases (Audios on the 8th batch of UK UFO documents release is still on the pending mode, but I will soon finalize that one).

In this audio from January 10th, you can hear comments from people and reaction from the whole community in Cornwall on the 2nd Horse Mutilation case. Police representative, representative of RCSPA and Vivien Allaway that owned horse Eric, were interviewed. Vivien gave graphic details about the state of the horse after they found him mutilated.

It was broadcast on BBC Cornwall within the show "Lunchtime with Laurence Reed". Host for that day was Martin Bailie. He was sitting for Laurence becauses he was not available that day.

Best Wishes and hope colleagues from UK will find audio material useful for additional leads and to further check does this case actually meets standards of "classic mutilation" case, or not.

    Best Wishes.

Located the wave of horse cases that happened in Colorado in August 2010 (after the article below I included also another article about calves wave from November 2009 because it was mentioned at the end of the Colorado article):

    Mutilated horses found near Rush
Posted: Aug 23, 2010 10:59 PM by Andy Koen

Something strange happened to Mike and Glenda Schneider's horses, but exactly what is still unclear. About two weeks ago, Buck and Princess were killed in a pasture behind their home in Eastern El Paso County near the town of Rush. A third horse, a yearling named King, was also wounded but survived.

The animals seem to have been slaughtered in a peculiar way; their tongues, hearts and genitals were all been removed.

"It was pretty fine cuts it doesn't look like anything was jagged to where it wasn't dogs and we couldn't find any footprints," Mike said.

The carcasses were discovered roughly 300 feet apart and were facing opposite directions which stands out to Mike and Glenda because they say the three horses were inseparable. The scars on King's legs have healed some, but the animal has been skittish ever since the incident.

They don't remember seeing or hearing anything unusual the night the animals were killed other than the barking of their dogs.

"Bear (the dog) was trying to tell us something and I wasn't listening, I looked to the front of the house and didn't see anything, of course it happened in the back out in the field," Glenda said.

After the incident, a neighbor shared with them his experience from a few weeks earlier in which which a very bright light shone down on his pick up. He got out to look at it but couldn't make out what it was. He also couldn't hear the sound of a motor or engine.

Mike is dubious of any extraterrestrial involvement.

"Personally, I doubt it, it was not a UFO," he said. "But there's no denying something happened to em and it ain't pretty."

"A lot of people think it's witchcraft," Glenda said. "I kind of think it was military, and then a lot of people think it's UFO's, I just don't know."

The Schneiders reported the incident to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, but without footprints or tire tracks, there was little evidence to go on.

They say they wanted to make the mutilations public for their neighbors' sake, so that it doesn't happen again.

There have been cases of mutilated livestock surfacing since the 1970's. Most recently there were four calves that were mysteriously killed in the San Luis Valley last November.

No answers yet for calf mutilations near San Luis By MATT HILDNER
THE PUEBLO CHIEFTAIN The Pueblo Chieftain | 0 comments

SAN LUIS - A string of calf mutilations earlier this month have left a local rancher and law enforcement scratching their heads.

Rancher Manuel Sanchez has had four calves mutilated over a three-week span in a pasture he leases near Los Vallejos, just southeast of here, with the most recent victim coming on Nov. 16.

In each case, Sanchez found his calves with skin peeled back and organs cleaned out from the rib cage.

He found no signs of human attackers such as ATV tracks or footprints in the pasture that's guarded by two locked gates.

Nor did he find any evidence of animal predators such as a coyote or a mountain lion. There were no blood pools near the animals, or drag marks on the ground.

"There's nothing really to go by," said Sanchez, who's ranched for nearly 50 years. "I can't figure it out."

Sgt. James Chavez, who serves as the public information officer for the Costilla County Sheriff's Office, said a deputy and an undersheriff went to the pasture to investigate one of the killings.

Chavez said the investigation revealed no indications of a predator attack and the lack of blood at the site made it highly unlikely that a person butchered it.

"I've butchered a cow before and I know what kind of a mess it leaves," he said.

Both Sanchez and Chavez think there have been other mutilations in the area

that have gone unreported because of people's unwillingness to talk about

    something so mysterious.

Chavez, who's worked in Costilla County for five years, also investigated mutilations when he was a sheriff's deputy in Rio Grande County.

Neither of the men believe aliens were responsible for the attack.

But in the San Luis Valley, where a mutilated horse maintains celebrity status four decades after its death and a UFO watchtower graces the roadside near Hooper, some may look upward for an explanation of the incidents.

The day after Sanchez found his last calf mutilated, Chuck Zukowski came down from Colorado Springs to investigate.

Zukowski, who investigated three cattle mutilations in Huerfano and Las Animas counties in March, hopes to establish a link between cattle mutilations and the existence of UFOs.

But Zukowski's report, which is posted on his Web site, ufonut.com, does not reach that conclusion.

It does note, however, that the mutilation of Sanchez's last calf was similar to one found on Tom Miller's ranch near Trinidad.

The only differences were that Sanchez's calf was missing part of its tongue, while the Miller calf was missing both its ears.

Zukowski hopes to find a cow mutilation with more of the animal intact so he can send it to veterinary labs at Colorado State University for a necropsy.

"We're trying as much as we can to find a pattern," he said in a phone interview with The Chieftain.

In the meantime, Sanchez has sold off his 32 remaining calves out of fear more would get mutilated.

He has yet to decide how he'll manage the remaining 40 animals in his herd.

"It's a big loss for a small rancher," he said.

I couldn't help but notice that this thread has had a massive spike in guests today. Welcome one and all! More relevant info below :

On Saturday 24th October 2010 a horse was discovered, dead and mutilated, by land owners in Sussex. After reporting the matter with the relevant authorities, and due to the high strangeness of the attack, they contacted UK film maker Richard D Hall and Animal Pathology Field Unit investigator David Cayton.

The subsequent field investigation was filmed and incorporated into a documentary film which is now available to watch (for free) at the following link:

Approximately, in the next seven days, I will finally finish audio clippings of the BBC Cornwall radio shows from January 2012 that were devoted to the horse mutilation case in Cornwall. At the time, I archived complete seven days of BBC Cornwall shows (they are not available anywhere now) so nothing could be missed. It took me three months to relisten everything in detail and to note relevant minutes for clippings.

By the way, I also archived various Facebook and Twitter comments from different pages and they will be included too.

The case was extensively monitored on this forum, and it was even reported on Coast to Coast at the time.

In the mean time I was able to find this updated article that wasn't involved in the previous set and posts (for audio clippings stay tuned in the near future):

Cornwall horse mutilation inquiry draws blank
Toxicology test results are awaited on the stallion which was sedated

Police have drawn a blank so far in their investigation into the death of a horse which was found badly mutilated in a Cornwall field.

The stallion, called Erik, suffered severe injuries to its head and body at Stithians.

The two-and-a-half-year-old horse was attacked between 8 and 9 January.

Police are waiting for the results of toxicology tests on the horse and say they are still hopeful of catching the attacker.

Investigating officer Insp Chris Strickland said: "We are no further forward.

"We've followed up almost all lines of inquiry and have drawn a blank.

"We are taking the investigation very seriously. It would be great to catch whoever did this."

    Horse struggled

He said investigations suggested more than one person was involved in the attack on the horse, which had been sedated.

Insp Strickland said: "The horse did struggle at some point. Whether it was before or after they sedated it, we do not know."

He said that he had received more calls from the public about the case than any other in his 24 years as a policeman.

"We know how concerned people are about this case," he said.

"For anyone to attack an animal like this is quite shocking."

He said the force was keeping an open mind about the reason for the attack, including ritual killing "but it could just be a nutcase".

Devon and Cornwall Police have been advising horse owners to improve their security.

Great work, Uforadio! I look forward to your report too.

I also noticed a contradiction in that article. The Police were quoted as "awaiting toxicology reports", yet they are also quoted saying that the "Horse WAS sedated". Sloppy journalism? Or presumption on the part of the investigators?
