Without going into spoilers, I thought a few elements were underdevloped.
IMHO, the "church" element could have been explored/expanded. As it was, could have almost been left out entirely without changing the story.
The Government representative was a key figure, but played something like a lone wolf. IMHO his character would of had more impact if he'd been portrayed as having more resources (minions?) at his disposal. Far as I saw, all he had was access and some intel.
Besides those minor problems, a good story.
More of missed opportunity than fatal flaws.

Thanks to everyone that recommended Stranger Things on Netflix. Yep, I binged all eight episodes back to back... Good writing, directing, acting and production.
