I did "film" one of the very last scenes in the movie and IMO, is very upbeat and shows great appreciation of our constitution, as Richard Crenna "sticks to his conviction" awesome!
If you don't watch anything else in this movie, this scene alone is worth it for sure!

ARRIVAL. Released on DVD here, yesterday.
Heavy emphasis on how aliens and humans might establish communication after a first encounter.
Actually reminds me of a debate our own Admin Chris and I had, some years ago.
Cali: We can't even talk to intelligence dolphins. What hope talking to ET?
Chris: But ET will have technology, and mathematics is universal.
For those who have already seen ARRIVAL, you might get a laugh from this.
NO SPOILERS.
After viewing the aliens in this movie, I had an unusual dream last night. No nightmare monsters, instead I dreamed of parachutes.
Seemed to come out of nowhere?!?!
Odd how the mind processes new images.

I loved that movie... parachutes indeed!

You may think that the only reason why you saw that parachute in your dream is because you had just seen that movie Arrival, but actually there is more to that than you think.
When we dream, and here I'm talking about regular dreams and not lucid dreams... but when we dream, the following parts of our brain are shut off:
1) The ego... which is in your prefrontal cortex.
2) The libido... which is located in center of the brain and is your pleasure center.
3) The superego (your conscience)... which is in the orbital frontal cortex which is right behind your eyes.
In other words, our rational brain which is the fact checking part of it is shut off when we dream.
But what is active when you dream is the primitive part of our brain that's located in the back called the amygdala; it governs our fears and emotions. And more importantly, our unconscious fears and emotions.
So, in my view, that you dreamt of a parachute right after you saw that movie goes beyond the fact that the ET's in that movie sort of were shaped that way. If I were you, I would examine your underlying emotional response to the object itself, the parachute. I mean, you could have seen a jellyfish or an octopus instead, but no... you saw a parachute so I would analyze that. You would start off asking... "To me, on a personal level, what is a parachute, which is how those aliens in that movie were shaped, a metaphor for?"
I say personal because say you are a native Am. Indian from those tribes that believe that Star People are their ancestors and that they have come back to protect your people...including the rest of humanity and our planet too.
You dreaming of a parachute after seeing a movie where the aliens were sorta shaped that way would confirm for you those views held by your people that ET's are our protectors... on various levels. I presume that there was more to that dream than just a parachute showing up in it so those other aspects of the dream would be taken into consideration too when interpreting it.
Anyway, each person, depending on who they are, will have their own take on the meaning of the parachute showing up in their dream after seeing that movie that goes beyond the aliens in it sort being shaped that way.

Don't want to stray too far off topic.
But would like to say; much as I like our Native American brother's casinos, I am Caucasian.
Picture Liev Schreiber, not Geronimo, to get an idea of my appearance (well, in my younger days )
Maybe you are thinking of member Atmjj who STUDIES Native Americans?
Perhaps later, time permitting, I can copy your post over to a new Brain Function/Dreams thread. Sounds like a fun topic.

I LOVE Liev Schreiber! You look like him? I'm impressed! lol
Anyway, I wasn't saying that you are an Am. Indian, I was only giving an example as in "say you are an Native Am. Indian from one of those tribes....and so on..."
Also, it would be great to continue this conversation in that new thread. Whenever you have time to start that up, I'll be there.

Season03 In full swing.
Not sure how they (KGB Spies/infiltrators) remained in the US after the S02 dramatic conclusion, but game on with this espionage thriller on FX.
