California has introduced "The Real ID Card".
They are implementing a two tier driver license system.
One license is issued for drivers. With a seal "FEDERAL LIMITS APPLY" appearing on the front.
The other is issued for drivers/state ID holders who have provided legal status (presented a Passport, etc., during application). Privileges include:
REAL ID Compliant DL/ID cards allow applicants to:

Use it as identification to board an airplane.
Enter military bases and most federal facilities.

"You vish to enter ze courthouse? Your paperz please". (Best WW2, Nazi accent).

I noticed that "Veteran Identification" for the sample license. A number of states started identifying Veterans on licenses.

US, UK warn of Russian hackers targeting millions of routers
Russian spies are looking for vulnerabilities in routers for future attacks. Officials are urging people, and device makers, to take security measures.
    by Alfred Ng

Russian hackers are targeting millions of routers around the world, including devices in homes and offices, according to US and UK officials.

In a joint announcement Monday from the US Department of Homeland Security, the FBI and the UK's National Cyber Security Center, officials warned that Russian spies have been looking for vulnerabilities on millions of routers as a tool for future attacks.

The targets include routers in homes and offices, as well as firewalls and switches from internet service providers, critical infrastructure and major private companies, said National Security Council cybersecurity coordinator Rob Joyce.

"We have high confidence Russia has carried out a coordinated campaign to gain access to enterprise, small office/home office routers known as SOHO routers, and residential routers, and the switches and connectors worldwide," Joyce said in a conference call.

In a detailed technical alert published after the call, the joint warning said that Russian hackers took advantage of outdated devices, as well as routers with weak defenses. That included routers with default passwords, as well as devices no longer supported by security patches.

Former Walmart Store is now housing child prisoners!

    Conspiracy becomes reality!

    .

For years, the conspiracy stories of Former Walmart Stores Converted into future Detention Centers was reported. At the time, a lot of attempts to debunk of the conspiracy surfaced. Yet, here we are... Look at the bigger aspect of it... The Walmart in question is housing children of illegal immigrants and people that walked up to a Legal Port of Entry seeking asylum.

    Think about this:

The conspiracy stories of former Walmart Stores converted into future Detention Centers was around before Trump announced a run for the White House... The Trump Administration is now confirmed to be using a Former Walmart Store as a Detention Center. Was there planning ahead for what we're now seeing?

    Again - Think about it...

I think we might be getting a little off topic here.
I don't see what mentioning the former owner's name (Walmart) has to do with the current owner/used as; Government/Detention Center. Other than to sensationalize the article (I'm also cautious anytime I see "save the children" used in a story. Always an inflammatory tag line, often invoking emotion rather than reason).
Maybe I overlooked it, but what does this article have to do with Government Surveillance? Seems more like an immigration issue.

Apple Blocks Hack That Feds and Police Use to Crack iPhones

    By GLENN FLEISHMAN

Apple confirmed on Wednesday that the next version of its iPhone and iPad operating system will close a security hole that law enforcement has used to crack into otherwise secure devices that belong to criminal suspects and targets of security operations worldwide.

The software change highlights Apple’s sometimes fraught relationship with law enforcement in the U.S. and elsewhere. The company has increasingly designed its computers and mobile devices to be impervious to decryption, even by Apple itself.

Following the massacre of 14 by a couple in San Bernardino, Calif. in 2015, the FBI asked Apple for help in creating a custom version of its iOS software that would allow the FBI to bypass protections against rapidly and automatically trying every possible passcode—so-called “brute force”—until the correct one unlocked the device. After Apple declined, the FBI obtained a court order that Apple resisted until the FBI dropped its efforts, announcing it had found an alternative way to break into the phone....
