World’s top climate scientists expect global heating to blast past 1.5C target

Hundreds of the world’s leading climate scientists expect global temperatures to rise to at least 2.5C (4.5F) this century, blasting past internationally agreed targets and causing catastrophic consequences for humanity and the planet, an exclusive Guardian survey has revealed.

Almost 80% of the respondents, all from the authoritative Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), foresee at least 2.5C of global heating above preindustrial levels, while almost half anticipate at least 3C (5.4F). Only 6% thought the internationally agreed 1.5C (2.7F) limit will be met....

The main road, next to where we live is being heightened because with the rising sea levels it would be submerged with each spring tide within 10 years.

Ah Garuda sad news, it's going to effect coast lines everywhere.

This is pretty astounding. The temperature rise is going exponential. There's still no real plan to replace gas/oil burners in the UK. It's crazy governments don't want to face this they're too afraid the policies they'd have to implement would be unpopular?!?
It's more serious than that

I may have mentioned this before. Durban in South Africa is one of the cities that is already feeling the effects. The waves at spring tides are higher than they used to be, and areas stream upwards from the river deltas and estuaries are being evacuated, because they systematically get flooded. Even where we live, a beach project for an apartment building with some shops on the ground floor was abandoned because it is no longer considered safe to build that close to the shoreline.

And then there's the extreme weather, causing floods and severe damage to infrastructure. In the previous century, Durban experienced half a dozen incidents over a century. Now, we've had 6 in the last 5 years.

Some places are experiencing early effects of Climate Change more than other places. In the near future, almost everywhere will experience the effects of Climate Change. As a species, humanity isn't preparing for what is about to happen.
